for the love of books–2024

Did my reading list get longer for 2024? Well, of course it did. Did I complete it? Yes, I did.

In December 2023, I finally finished the “Throne of Glass” series, wrapping up the last of the three epic sagas I’d been devouring. When I closed “Kingdom of Ash,” I felt this massive void—like, how could anything ever compare? The only thing that kept my interest was the fact that the third book of the “Crescent City” series, House of Flame and Shadow, was just around the corner. But, I’ve got to be real—it didn’t quite hit the spot. Maybe it was the high expectations after ToG or just bad timing, but it left me a little disappointed.

Determined to find a new binge-worthy series that wasn’t just riding a hype wave, I went on a mission. And then, like magic, Amazon Kindle Unlimited pulled through and recommended this super intriguing series that I just had to dive into!

Finding the “Zodiac Academy” series was like discovering a hidden gem just when I thought nothing could fill the void left by finishing the “Throne of Glass” series. The new world, captivating characters, and the unique blend of magic drew me in instantly, making it easier to move on from the adventures of Aelin and her companions. It’s refreshing to dive into a story that offers a mix of familiar fantasy elements with an exciting twist, making me just as eager to turn every page as I was with my old favorite.

Before I stumbled upon this amazing new series, I decided it was time to take a step back from my usual fantasy reads. And let me tell you—it was no easy task! I started book after book, but nothing really grabbed me until I picked up The Midnight Library. This gem by Matt Haig turned out to be the best book I’ve read all year, and I couldn’t be happier that I ventured outside my usual ‘romantasy’ bubble. The story follows Nora Seed, who ends up in a magical library caught between life and death, where every book lets her experience a different version of her life based on the choices she could’ve made. As she explores these alternate realities, she discovers what truly matters, and it’s honestly such a life-changing read. It made me rethink my regrets, dreams, and all the “what-ifs” I’ve ever pondered. The Midnight Library is a beautiful reminder that every choice has value, and there’s always a chance to find fulfillment, even in the most unexpected places. If you’re looking for a book that’ll make you reflect on your own life, this one is a must-read!

I am so excited to see where my reading journey takes me next year. Hmm would it be more fantasy, romance, mystery, sci-fi? Even though I didn’t write about the other books that I read I will list them below.
